Music composition and sound design for audiovisual media.

Musician and producer Oliver Forstner specializes in audiovisual storytelling with Wolf&Antelope. A complete media experience requires an arc of tension and a palette of emotions that result from the combination of sound and image. The music and sound design of a film contribute significantly to the sensation of what is seen. From a short sound logo, which gives a brand its unmistakable sound, to games that are distinguished by their sonic backdrops of different levels, to film and animation with classical music composition.
In close cooperation, the visual emotional world of the trailer was discussed in order to work out a musical arc of tension. The color blue as a stylistic device and the theme “man & machine” quickly suggested a cold, gloomy sound world characterized by mechanical sounds. This is reflected in the choice of instrumentation as well as the arrangement. A juxtaposition of synthetic as well as organic-orchestral sounds was determined.
The first half of the trailer invites into a fantastic dystopian retrofuture world and then in the second half goes into trailer-typical facts about the event and makes the viewer want more. Accordingly, the first half of the composition focuses on sound design and worldbuilding to then explode into a full musical arrangement and underline the event facts. The ending leaves question marks and a call for more. The fantastic tone of the Slash Film Festival is set.
